Rumpler C-IV

Towards the end of 1916 the Rumpler C-IV made its appearance;   its engine was the 260 h.p. Mercedes.  Some machines had airscrew spinners,   some not, and a variety of exhaust stacks were fitted.

The C-IV had ean exceptionally good performance as regards climb and speed at high altitude adn was particularly suited to long range reconnaissance work.   It equipped German units in Italy and Palestine as well as on the Western Front, and was regarded by Allied airmen everywhere as being a difficult aircraft to bring down.
