Sabers were seldom carried, except by officers. They were replaced by a brace of pistols. By utilizing a large variety of heads, arms, weapons, and by rotating the paint schemes, each of these mounted Confederat Cavalry is unique.

WADE HAMPTON

Brigadier General Wade Hampton was one of Stuart's Brigade commanders and succeeded Stuart after his death. He was wounded at the battle of Getteysburg, but lived until 1902. One of the richest men in South Carolina, Hampton raised and equipped a volunteer legion of six infantry companies, four cavalry companies and a battery of artillery. His uniform and those of his officers were of the finest material and cut. In this set, Hampton, mounted, fearlessly charging, is dressed in a Confederate general's uniform of overall gray with a broad brimmed hat and ostrich feather plume. His officers were dressed 'hussar' style with yellow braid and facings on their gray uniforms. This set of Wade Hampton and his men embodies the spirit of those gallant men in gray.

Many regiments had musicians who served as stretcher bearers. This band was inspired by the Confederate band shown marching past the Cashtown Hotel in the movie Getteysburg. This band is also seen in formation, performing at Confederate headquarters for General Robert E. Lee.
The Confederate Infantry band consists of 3 cornets, 3 saxhorns, 3 tubas, 3 clarinets, 3 snare drums, 1 base drum, 1 set of cymbals, and 1 side drum. The musicians are dressed in a combination of gray, butternut, and civilian clothes with a mix of hat types and colors.
