1940 British Army Fordson Armored Car

(RR-10) British Army - Fordson Armored Car Kit $12.50

In 1922 the Royal Air Force undertook responsibility for the security of Iraq and shared duties with the Army in Palestine. Thus they inherited many of the surviving armored cars while adding to their strength with newly built Rolls Royces of their own. At the outbreak of the Second World War some of the hybrid armored cars (1914 bodies on 1920 chassis) were still in service and one or two old bodies were even transferred to more modern Fordson chassis when the Rolls Royces finally wore out. Cars of this type remained in RAF service until 1942, so it is by no means unreasonable to suggest that an armored car body, built for the Royal Naval Air Service in 1914, operated by the Army from 1915 and the Royal air force from 1922, could have survived on three different chassis until it was scrapped, on Air Ministry instructions, in 1944.

Our kit is of just such a car. It is equipped with a Boys Anti-tank Rifle, Vickers Machine Gun and two 30 cal Mgs on a scarif ring.
