Before the Russian Revolution Adolphe Kegresse, the technical manager of the Tsar's garage in Petrograd designed a system to improve traction in snow, where light rubber tracks were first fitted in 1910 to replace the rear wheels on some of the Tsar's motor cars. This vehicle is a 1915 Rolls Royce and was used by V.I. Lenin during the revolution and afterwards. Many such conversions were used as staff cars by the Red Army and by other officials of the Soviet Government.
